I looked in my process in the Task Manager while you try to start it and halo2.exe would appear and then disappear just as if the process took end. What happens is that I can install the game without problem but when I go to start the game, my mouse icon between busy then just go back to normal.
I'm running a Dell XPS 17 with Windows 7 Professional, a dual-core i7 2.7 ghz and a nVidia GT 550 m 1 GB graphics card. Halo 2 installs on Windows 7 but doesn't start.
